Pretty In Pink 2013 Will Be a ‘Funraiser’ For Breast Cancer on October 8

Pretty in Pink, the area’s largest breast cancer awareness celebration, is back for a third year with a revamped program that is designed to help screen low-income women for breast cancer. The event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Greenwood American Legion at 5:30 p.m. and is a ticketed event.

Self Regional Healthcare Foundation to be title sponsor of women’s golf tournament

The Self Regional Healthcare Foundation will be the title sponsor of a Symetra Tour – Road to the LPGA charity golf tournament to raise funds for women’s health initiatives. The tournament will be named the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women’s Health Charity Classic, to be held May 5-11, 2014, at The Links at Stoney Point golf course in Greenwood, S.C.

Self Regional Healthcare has been named one of the nation’s best healthcare workplaces for the third consecutive year by Modern Healthcare. The prestigious “Top 100” listing was announced this week, and Self Regional is the only healthcare provider in South Carolina to receive this recognition.

Ovarian cancer survivor Dianne Morgan has organized an awareness event on Sept. 22 to ensure other women know the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer, which is often referred to as the "silent killer." Here Mrs. Morgan is joined by City Manager Charlie Barrineau, Meg Hawes from the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation, Self Regional Oncology Navigator Katie Davis and Greenwood Mayor Welborn Adams in front of the teal fountain in downtown Greenwood, colored in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. The free event, which will feature remarks from Dr. Amy Forrest and Dr. Donald Wiper III, will be held at 3 p.m. on Sept. 22 at Alexander Hall at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood.

Greenwood resident and ovarian cancer survivor Dianne Morgan will be presenting a special ovarian cancer awareness event on Sunday, September 22 together with representatives from the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation. The event will include an educational program designed to teach women about the cancer and factors that may elevate the risk for developing ovarian cancer.
