Infection Prevention and Control

Self Regional Healthcare has an organization-wide Infection prevention and control program to reduce the risk of development of healthcare–associated infections. This program is evaluated and revised at least annually and whenever risks are significantly changed.

The South Carolina Hospital Infections Disclosure Act (HIDA) requires hospitals to report certain hospital acquired infection rates to the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) every six months. Hospitals are required to make the reports available to the public.

Self Regional Healthcare is working in cooperation with the South Carolina Department of Environmental Control and the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to monitor our service area for any signs of swine influenza. Meanwhile, DHEC has shared a number of steps South Carolinians should take to help prevent the disease from spreading. People with cold or flu-like symptoms are being discouraged from visiting patients in the hospital at this time. If you have questions about the swine influenza, please call DHEC’s regional office at (864) 833-0000. To find out the facts as we know them concerning the swine influenza, Click here.
