Self Regional Healthcare Foundation Women's Health Classic hosts the world's greatest women golfers this week. The Classic kicks off its week-long schedule of activities including the $200,000 purse. In its second year, the tournament also raises the largest charitable donation on the 22-stop national tour, which will support women's health initiatives at Self Regional, as well as other charities and service organizations in the Lakelands area of S.C. Area Organizations and Businesses Invited to Apply for AED Grant
The Self Regional Heart and Vascular Center is launching a community-based Automatic External Defibrillator, or AED, grant program. The program's goal is to increase awareness of what to do in a cardiac emergency, train more people on how to perform hands-only CPR and to equip various facilities with AEDs in case of an emergency. SRH has awarded $268,700 in its latest round of community improvement grants, to help local organizations provide emergency defibrillators in public places, offer preventive health measures, provide treatment for children and adults of sexual violence and abuse, and assist bilingual/bicultural patients who require healthcare. 2014 Community Health Grants Now Total $858,200. Be the Match - Bone Marrow Registry Event August 7
The public is invited to participate in this marrow registry event. The process takes 15 minutes and requires a cheek swab. Blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases such as sickle cell anemia may require a marrow transplant for survival. Having more individuals on the registry provides a greater chance for a match. Self Regional Healthcare Announces 5 Percent Rate Reduction
Following several years of cost-cutting initiatives, Self Regional Healthcare has announced a board-approved average rate reduction of 5 percent for its fiscal year beginning Oct. 1, 2013. The rate reduction is most significant for outpatient laboratory and imaging services, which will have a 10 percent and 15 percent reduction in charges, respectively.
Local Residents Encouraged To Sign Up for Cancer Prevention Study
Self Regional is joining the American Cancer Society of Greenwood to present a ground-breaking study called CPS-3, or Cancer Prevention Study-3, to the residents of the Lakelands. CPS-3 is a long-term, national cancer research study managed by the American Cancer Society. Two dates are being offered: August 27 and 29.

January 30, 2013. Self Regional Healthcare's Cancer Center has achieved QOPI® Certification by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Self Regional is the first health system in the Lakelands to achieve QOPI certification, and one of just three certified practices in the state of South Carolina.

January 24, 2013. Self Medical Center • Laurens, the Lakelands' first patient-centered designed healthcare facility, officially opens January 28.
