Self Regional Healthcare and Edgefield County Hospital announce new medical office building

(Greenwood, SC, August 2, 2016.) The Boards of Self Regional Healthcare and Edgefield County Hospital announced today that they will work jointly to bring a 16,600 square foot medical office building to the Edgefield County Hospital campus. Self Regional will purchase the land and fund the construction of the building, which is expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2017. Half of the facility will house a Self Medical Group primary care practice (with ample space for a rotation of Self Regional specialty care physicians,) while the other half will be leased to Edgefield County Hospital for the relocation of their rural health clinic, Peachtree Medical Center, to include Dr. Beth Gordineer and Dr. Robert Brightharp along with their mid-level provider staff.

Self Medical Group also announced on June 27, 2016 that two Edgefield physicians, Dr. George Rainsford and Dr. Tami Massey, will be joining the Self Regional organization on October 1, 2016 and will be practicing, along with a mid-level provider, at the new facility.

These announcements come just months after the two healthcare organizations entered into an affiliation agreement that was designed to enhance and improve healthcare services available in Edgefield County. That agreement established a long-term, collaborative relationship between the two hospitals and opened the way for joint projects like this medical office building.

“This is extremely good news for the Edgefield community, and will no doubt enhance the healthcare services available here,” said Carlos Milanes, CEO of Edgefield County Hospital. “This new state-of-the-art facility will improve and expand the care we are able to offer at our rural health clinic, and having four primary care providers and access to specialists right next door will make Edgefield’s access to advanced care even more convenient,” Mr. Milanes said.

President and CEO of Self Regional Healthcare Jim Pfeiffer stated, “This new building is evidence of Self Regional’s commitment to the Edgefield community, and our determination to work collaboratively with Edgefield County Hospital to expand access to care.”
