Coronavirus screening and Drive-Through testing site

To protect our patients and team members: We have established a new process for COVID-19 screening and specimen collection site that will be available beginning Monday, 03/16/20.

This COVID-19 screening line is only for residents of our 7-county service area in South Carolina: Greenwood, Laurens, Edgefield, Newberry, Saluda, McCormick and Abbeville counties.

If you have concerns that you might have been exposed and want to be screened you may call our COVID-19 Screening Line at 725-4200. The screening phone line will be available Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. On the call you will be asked a series of questions to see if you meet the DHEC criteria for testing. If you meet the criteria you will be scheduled at our drive-through COVID-19 specimen collection site where a swab will be collected. Patients who are directed to this drive-through site will stay in their cars while a nurse who is wearing protective gear and trained in infection control collects the sample from outside the vehicle.

Covid-19 testing at SRH screening site is only available to individuals who have been directed by the Covid-19 screening line or by your physician, and are residents of our 7-county service area in South Carolina (Greenwood, Laurens, Newberry, Edgefield, Saluda, McCormick and Abbeville counties). All patients will be given an assigned appointment time for specimen collection.  Please arrive at your appointment time.

Only come to the Self Regional Emergency Department when there is a true medical emergency.

We have established visitor restrictions at Self Regional Medical Center that begin Monday, 03/16/2020

Visitors will not be permitted to enter the building if they have signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, or have been in contact with someone with a confirmed diagnosis or under investigation for diagnosis of COVID-19, or have traveled to China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, Japan , or other parts of Europe. No visitors under 18 years old. The number of visitors per patient will be limited to no more than two visitors per patient; additional restrictions may be imposed based on the patient clinical status. Even if you are well, we ask that you consider not visiting if you are pregnant, have a weakened immune system, or have a lung condition or breathing difficulties.

It’s important that you call ahead before arriving at your physician’s office

If you develop a fever and symptoms of respiratory illness, such as cough or difficulty breathing, and have been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19 or if you live in or have recently traveled to an area with ongoing spread – call your doctor’s office before you go.

Prevent and Prepare

The best prevention against COVID-19 is practicing basic hand hygiene. Wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds after touching objects and surfaces, and immediately after interacting or shaking hands with others. If soap and water is not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Make sure the hand sanitizer you choose contains at least 60 percent alcohol. And, remember to avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. Stay six feet away from anyone who is showing flu- or cold-like symptoms. Most importantly, if you feel sick stay home. Just as if you had the flu or other infection, by isolating yourself you help protect your family, friends and coworkers.
