So I was actually a patient here when I was younger and I've had my mom and my dad be patients here and everything that everyone has had has been one-on-one care. It's been so important to us. I actually became a physical therapist because my first therapist was a physical therapist and I was like she's so amazing she helped me so much I want to be like her. Just being able to be that person for someone is really rewarding. The process here is you are normally assigned a preceptor. You're assign somebody who's going to take you through the process of getting to know the hospital, getting to know the team. It's a collaborating effort to help this new team member feel comfortable and to get to know everybody and so they can be the the best practitioner on top of knowing that they're supported and that this is a fun place to work and that you can always talk to anybody we foster a community of respectful communication and we take everybody's opinion into consideration no matter your job title everybody is heard we have a really good team i think everybody cares i think everybody cares about our patients we all care about each other another benefit of of working here is we have one-on-one patient care to where you know we're not double booked or triple booked like some facilities are we're able to provide best care I think for our patients at the end of the day which is one of our pillar goals as an organization. This time last year I was a student at Self Regional as a speech therapist. I knew that Self Regional was where I wanted to work as a speech therapist and I'm very blessed with the patients we have here and the team members. I'm able to collaborate with them in the outpatient setting and it's just been a blessing. I've come to know all of the folks in the rehab department here in the hospital and i can honestly say that we're like one big family we integrate well with one another in the total patient care so we really make sure that we're doing a good job working together keeping our morale up for the patient's sake as well as for their recovery and hopefully get them back to being as strong as they can be i feel very equipped every time i go into a patient's room. I've always got the supplies that I need. I've always got the equipment that I need depending on the patient situation. You know, if they need a little more help, I've got the equipment there for them to use whether it be a certain kind of lift or a certain piece of equipment to help them stand. I'm always confident that we're going to be able to get the job done and focus on patient safety as well as safety for me and any other therapists that might be working with me. I'm born and raised in Greenwood so I love it here and my lots of my family works for self. My parents are both physicians and my sister and they all work at various offices that are owned by self and so I just knew it was a good place to work so I have loved it here. Dream job you know what I do is really just improve the quality of life of so many kids and that's like my primary goal and I get to come alongside families and come alongside kids and and just help them set them up for success and that's been really special.
