Pharmacy Residency Program
Postgraduate Year One Pharmacy Residency at Self Regional Healthcare
The Postgraduate Year One Pharmacy Residency (PGY-1) at Self Regional Healthcare will provide residents with experiences to enhance their skills and knowledge of clinical pharmacy services.
The program is designed to provide the resident month long direct patient care rotation experiences in different areas of pharmacy practice, providing the resident with a well-rounded advanced practice experience level upon graduation.
Residents will complete nine required rotations including orientation and preceptorship, two preferred electives, and a variety of longitudinal experiences to allow for flexibility in pursuing individual interest in clinical pharmacy practice.
Program Requirements
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited degree program
- Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in South Carolina
- Participation in the ASHP Residency Matching Program
- Pharmacy school transcripts
- Three professional references using the Standardized Reference Template in the Pharmacy Online Residency Centralized Application Service (PhORCAS)
- Curriculum vitae
- Letter of intent describing professional goals and reasons for pursuing post graduate training
- Completed application via PhORCAS
Application Process
Self Regional Healthcare PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Program participates in the ASHP Match. Applications are submitted through PhORCAS and due by January 5th.
Resident Expectations
- Provide pharmaceutical care to patients in a variety of settings
- Fulfill all assignments and duties
- Learn independently and accept constructive feedback from mentors
- Complete a meaningful residency project
- Maintain professional ethics
- Participate in educational activities for pharmacy, nursing, medical, and other staff
- Provide pharmacy operations staffing coverage

Salaries and Benefits
- Stipend $51,708 annually
- Program sponsored accommodations to attend ASHP Midyear meeting and the South Eastern Residency Conference
- Discretionary Time Off – 15 working days per year to be used for holidays, vacation, and sick leave

- Life Insurance: free to residents up to the level of base salary; may be increased at minimal cost and purchased for spouse at minimal cost

University of South Carolina PGY-1 Ambulatory Focused Residency
The Self Regional Healthcare – University of South Carolina PGY-1 program is a focused year-long experience designed to equip pharmacy residents with the knowledge, skills and confidence to manage an ambulatory care practice.
Before being accepted to a postgraduate year one pharmacy residency program, pharmacy students have the opportunity to participate in a longitudinal APPE program in their final year of pharmacy school. The purpose of this program is to prepare pharmacy students for post-graduate year one (PGY1) residency training in an acute care setting. Students will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience during various inpatient clinical rotations.

My current areas of interest include academia and ambulatory care focused in diabetes management. Outside of work, I love spending time with friends and family, serving at my church, and loving on my miniature dachshund, Spec. I also earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. My main professional interests include ambulatory care, academia, and population health. Outside of pharmacy, I enjoy antique shopping, crafting, listening to Taylor Swift, and reading. I wanted to pursue a position within this residency program because of the unique rotation and experience offerings that closely aligned with my professional interests.
