Hi, I’m Dr. Kumar. If you have recently had a heart attack, heart surgery, or you’re living with heart failure, I want to take a moment to talk to you about something that’s going to make a huge difference in your recovery, cardiac rehabilitation. So what is cardiac rehab? Cardiac rehab is a medically supervised program designed just for you to help you recover safely after a major heart event. It’s not just simply exercise. It is a complete support program that includes safe, guided physical activity, nutrition, and heart-healthy eating tips, stress management, emotional support, and even encouragement. Everything is designed for you to meet you where you are in your healing journey. So why does it matter? The truth is that people who participate in cardiac rehab often live longer than you do. So why does it matter? In some cases, it can even add an extra five years to your life. It protects you from future cardiac events to having any further heart problems. And not only that, it helps improve your strength, energy, and build confidence. So what can you expect when you join cardiac rehab? When you join cardiac rehab, you’re not alone. You will be working with a team that includes all who are there to help you recover safely. We’ll monitor your progress, guide you every step of the way, and help you make lasting changes, including managing your blood pressure, your cholesterol, and also improving your mood and stamina. It is about getting you back to lead the life that you want to live. And one of the best parts is that you’re not alone here. You’ll be meeting other people who have had similar experiences. So cardiac rehab is really like a community where people come together, people who have had similar experiences. You encourage each other, share your wins, and make you realize that you’re not alone in this hard journey. So if you or your loved one has had a major heart event, I want to let you know that your recovery does not stop when you leave the hospital. I want to encourage you to take the next most important step in your recovery, which is cardiac rehab. Cardiac rehab is here to help you heal, rebuild, and thrive, one step at a time. Transcript

Hi, I’m Leonard Lim. I’m a pulmonologist here at Advanced Pulmonology Associates at Self Regional Healthcare. If you’re living with a chronic lung condition like COPD or bronchiectasis, I would like to talk to you about a program called pulmonary rehabilitation. It is a program that could potentially help with your breathing and help you live better. Pulmonary rehabilitation, or pulmonary rehab for short, is a personalized supervised exercise program that combines supervised exercise, breathing techniques, and education to help you manage your lung condition better. It is designed for people with long-standing respiratory conditions such as COPD, bronchiectasis, pulmonary fibrosis, pulmonary hypertension, and more. While it does not cure lung disease, pulmonary rehab can help reduce your symptoms, increase your energy level, and help you do more of the things that you love with less shortness of breath. You will work with a team of specialists, including respiratory therapists, dietitians, and exercise experts, to improve your strength and stamina, to be able to breathe more efficiently, to be able to manage your lung disease better, to understand your medications and oxygen therapy, and to maintain good and healthy diet and eating habits. Many patients find support and encouragement in pulmonary rehab. As a matter of fact, 90% of patients are pulmonologists, and 90% of patients find themselves spending fewer days in the hospital because of pulmonary rehab. If you or someone that you care about has a long-standing pulmonary disease, talk to your doctor about pulmonary rehabilitation. We are here to help you breathe easier, move better, and feel stronger, one step at a time. ♪ ♪
