(Greenwood, S.C., February 21, 2024) The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) has awarded Self Regional Healthcare and its Affiliates grants amounting in $10.7 million to improve access to medical services in rural and medically underserved areas.

Abbeville Area Medical Center was awarded $2,987,896 to be used for critical infrastructure upgrades, including the revitalization of a Specialty Care practice and significant enhancements to the Operating Room (OR) and Endoscopy suites. This transformation addresses aging infrastructure and introduces vital healthcare services currently unavailable in the county.

Self Regional Healthcare was awarded $3,000,000 and $2,996,075, respectively, to establish a Urology Center of Excellence, enhancing healthcare accessibility and quality for the rural communities it serves, while addressing critical gaps in healthcare disparities.

Dr. Matthew Logan, President and CEO of Self Regional Healthcare said, “We are deeply grateful for the grants awarded to Self Regional  and our affiliates by SDDHHS. These resources serve as vital pillars supporting our mission to enhance healthcare accessibility and quality in our communities. We look forward to making great progress with these new opportunities.”
