My name is Lisa Bartanus, and I'm the Director of Talent Acquisition, Learning, and Development at Self Regional Healthcare. I've been in this position since January of 2021. Our patient care technicians are an extremely important part of our patient care team. They demonstrate a lot of care and compassion and frequently are able to support our patients who may be feeling vulnerable being away from their home surroundings. So we're looking for people who really have a lot of heart, energy, and compassion. People who can really be there for others when they need them the most. There are several organizations that offer training to help an individual become a Certified Nursing Assistant. We typically partner with Piedmont Technical College locally. They offer a 105-hour training course for people who are interested in becoming Certified Nursing Assistants. Within a few short weeks, an individual can complete the training course, take their certification exam, and be working right at the bedside. My name is Mona Williams. I'm a tech on the 8th tower, I'll call that the penthouse because of the top floor. I've been here a year. I did the PCT program here at Self Regional, it's an 8-week program, and the program taught me to be compassionate and keep the patient's dignity. If someone is interested in becoming a tech, you have to look at that patient as family. I walk in that room, I'm a smile, and I see mom, dad, cousin, sister, it's a must because you have to get adequate care to that patient. Hello, my name is Angela Gaird. Everyone that knows me here, my nickname is Poodie. I've been working here a total of 26 years. I just had my anniversary, which was May 3rd of this year. I love taking care of patients. I want the patients to know that I'm there for them, and that I want to give them 110% of my time, and that anything they need, they know they can always come back to self, and they can remember that tech. So, my name is Angela Gaird, and I'm a patient care technician here at Self Regional Healthcare. I've been at self-regional healthcare for almost two years. My goal is to become a nurse someday, and I'm kind of just getting experience from being a patient care technician here. I get to see a lot what the nurses do. Some of the best nurses that I have found are those that were patient care techs first. On the floor, they've learned the task of a PCT, and then they transition into the role of RN. What we need you to understand is that self-regional healthcare is about you and your growth. We want you to be all that you want to be in healthcare. We want you to be the PCT, the ward secretary, or the registered nurse. We want to help you get to the point that you fulfill everything that you want to do in healthcare. There is no better platform to start on than a patient care tech. You see the fundamentals of taking care of the patient, you see the fundamentals of what the nurse is doing, you're working in conjunction with the nurse, so you're honing your skills whether you know it or not as a PCT if you choose to further your education and to further your training to become an RN or many other things within the hospital's network. My name is Tamika Dawson, and I've been a patient care technician since 2007. I would say to anybody that loves patients, loves taking care of anybody that's sick, loves taking care of anybody, kids, anything, try SELF because we are family, we work together, we teach you what you need to know to help you get to the next level. We have CNAs that have moved up to techs that are now interns, that are now RNs. I just suggest if you are looking for work and you want family and team, SELF is the place to be. My name is Sarah Rodriguez. I've been a patient care tech at SELF Regional. Thank you. I've been working for two years on the Third Tower. Ever since I was a little girl, I used to always, I don't know, enjoy like the medical shows and I used to, you know, like how they used to help people. That's I guess what got me into this. I actually love being at SELF Regional Health Care. I enjoy the people that I work with. They have become like family to me because we go through so many things together, you know, and you deal with many things and as a team, you learn how to process it and how to, you know, get through it and there's just a lot of team effort and my motto is, you know, teamwork makes the dream work and honestly on Third Tower, that's how it is. If you have a heart to help people, if you want to have input in someone's lives and outcome of an adventure, if you will, in the hospital, the PCT position is for you. Again, working in coordination with your staff and teamwork, great teamwork on the floors with your nurses. This occupation will allow you to see people in a different light, see people sometime in their darkest moments, but also see them in a moment of triumph. One of the most rewarding feelings is seeing a person that you've personally taken care of out in the community and they rush to you and thank you for their care. So from that perspective, it's completely fulfilling. If taking care of people is in your heart, if that's what you feel, this is the right occupation for you for sure. Self-Regional Healthcare is more than just a job. It's a sense of community. It's a sense of belonging. On our floors, it's family. We would really love to help connect you with the right resources to get started on your career at Self-Regional Healthcare. Piedmont Tech starts classes several times a year and they provide day and evening options. For more information or for assistance connecting you with the right resources, please reach out to me, Lisa Bartanis, at Self-Regional Healthcare.
