Temporary Visitor Guidelines During Increased Flu Activity
Due to a recent surge in influenza (flu) cases in the Lakelands area and across South Carolina, temporary visitor guidelines are in place at Self Regional Medical Center to help protect our patients, visitors, and care teams. These measures will remain in effect while flu activity is elevated.
Visitor guidelines
- At this time, children 15 years of age and under are asked not to visit patients. Exceptions may be made in critical situations or special circumstances.
- Visitors who are experiencing flu-like or respiratory symptoms are asked to please stay home.
- Due to increased patient volumes in the Emergency Care Center (ECC):
- Patients age 16 and older may have one visitor.
- Patients under age 16 may be accompanied by two adults.
How you can help prevent the spread of flu
- Practice good hand hygiene by washing hands regularly with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Wearing a surgical or procedural mask is recommended when visiting patients or entering patient rooms, especially for added protection.
These temporary guidelines are intended to reduce the spread of illness and ensure a safe environment for everyone. Our Infection Prevention team continues to monitor flu activity closely, and visitor guidelines will be adjusted as conditions improve.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work together to keep our community safe.
