On July 17, 2025, we began mailing notification letters to certain individuals whose information was involved in a data incident at Nationwide Recovery Services, Inc. (“NRS”). NRS is the successor entity to a vendor that Self Regional Healthcare (“SRH”) used back in 2012 for debt collection services.
According to NRS, on July 11, 2024, NRS discovered suspicious activity related to certain computer systems which resulted in a network outage. NRS’s investigation determined there was unauthorized access to the NRS network between July 5, 2024 and July 11, 2024, and that certain files were copied from its systems. As a result, NRS began an extensive review of these files to determine what information they contained and to which NRS business partner the information belonged. NRS determined that some of the information was collected from SRH between approximately 2012 and 2013, when NRS’s predecessor contracted with SRH. On May 23, 2025, NRS provided SRH with a list of the individuals whose information may have been involved.
NRS determined that files containing some patient information may have been accessed and/or acquired as a result of this incident, including individuals’ names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, diagnoses, dates of service, provider names, medical information, and/or health insurance information.
Upon becoming aware of this incident, NRS informed us that they immediately took steps to confirm the security of its systems and conduct an investigation. SRH no longer does business with NRS.
We are offering complimentary identity monitoring services to notified individuals. Additionally, it is always a good idea for clients to review statements they receive related to their healthcare provider or health insurer. If they identify charges for services they did not receive, they should contact the healthcare entity or health insurer immediately.
We also established a dedicated, toll-free call center to help answer questions about the incident. The call center can be reached at 1-855-202-8275, Monday through Friday, 9 am – 9 pm, Eastern Time, excluding major U.S. holidays.
