Dr. Austin completed his internship at USC/Richland Memorial/Dorn VA Hospital and his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Matthew Bachinski, M.D.

Dr. Matt Bachinski is a senior partner of Digestive Disease Group and The Greenwood Endoscopy Center which he joined in 2001. He has a vast academic background and held the title of Associate Professor of Medicine and Chief of Endoscopy at the Medical College of Georgia and Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. Dr. Bachinski holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Amherst College in Amherst, Massachusetts and received his Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. His internship and residency were completed with the US Army at Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Bachinski is an active staff member of Self Regional Healthcare where he is Chief of Endoscopy. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and Hepatology and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Gastroenterology. He is also a member of the South Carolina Medical Association, the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association and the Greenwood County Medical Society. He has been on staff at Self Regional Healthcare System and practicing in Greenwood, SC, since 1984. In 2003, he left his previous practice affiliation and formed his own practice, Galloway Regional Eye Center, PA. He completed construction on his new state of the art office in 2005.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering at Clemson University in 1976, graduating with high honors. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1980 from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. In 1981 he completed his internship at the Medical College of Georgia. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1984. Dr. Galloway is Board Certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Galloway enjoys woodworking, bicycling, fishing, and outdoor yard work and riding his tractor. He also enjoys computer diagnostic work both at work and at home.

Dr. Bill Gilchrist is native of Williston, South Carolina. Dr. Gilchrist served in the Unites States Air Force from 1981 to 1990. While serving as Chief of the Department of Internal Medicine and the Special Care Unit at USAF Regional Hospital in Minot, North Dakota, he received the Air Force Commendation Medal in 1986. He is a senior partner of Digestive Disease Group, PA and The Greenwood Endoscopy Center, Inc. and is on staff of Self Regional Healthcare where he is an active member of the Self Regional Healthcare Foundation.

He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Dr. Gilchrist is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the American College of Physicians. Dr. Gilchrist is also a member of the South Carolina Medical Association, the South Carolina Gastroenterology Association of which he is past President and the Greenwood County Medical Association. He served as a Board Member of the Board of Visitors for the Medical University of South Carolina in 2005. He is also an active Executive Board Member of the Upper Savannah Council of Government. He also received the Merck Award for superior academic achievement, the Samuel Eichold Award for outstanding achievement in Internal Medicine and was a 3+3 Scholar being accepted into the accelerated honors program combining fourth year of medical school with first year of internal medicine residency. Dr. Green completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Alabama Medical Center where he received several awards including the Victor Benator Award for excellence in teaching and was a three time recipient of the P. D. Award for excellence in academic writing. He was also one of 5 national recipients of the American Liver Foundation resident scholar awards.

Dr. Green completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina where he participated in numerous research studies. For these efforts he was chosen as one of 15 national recipients of the Research Excellence in Gastroenterology and Liver Disease Awards. Dr. Skinner is the Director of the Greenwood Genetic Center. He is a clinical geneticist involved in the evaluation and treatment of children and adults with birth defects, intellectual disabilities, and other genetic disorders. Stephanie Turner, M.D.

Dr. Turner is a native of Greenwood. She began her practice with the Greenwood Eye Clinic, P.A. in 2003. She is a graduate of Furman University. She received her Doctor of Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina and completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Turner has a special interest in diabetic eye disease.

Dr. Turner is the daughter of DeVore Compton. M.D., retired, a founding partner of the Greenwood Eye Clinic.

Dr. Turner is an accomplished musician. Dr. Turner and her husband, Allan Turner, M.D., have two children.

Brian Vahjen, M.D.

Dr. Vahjen is a native of Greenwood. He joined the Greenwood Eye Clinic, P.A. in 2010. He earned his Bachelor of Science (Suma Cum Laude) from Lander University and his Doctor of Medicine (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of South Carolina Medical School in Columbia, SC. Dr. Vahjen completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Warner is a native of North Carolina and graduated from East Carolina University School of Medicine. His neurology residency was completed at the Medical College of Georgia where he served as Chief Resident. He is board-certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) and is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. He also has advanced training in cerebrovascular ultrasound. His special interests include stroke, migraine and movement disorders. Dr. Warner has given lectures on epilepsy, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.
