Be the Match - Bone Marrow Registry Event August 7
The public is invited to participate in an upcoming marrow registry event. The process takes 15 minutes and requires a cheek swab. Blood cancers like leukemia or other diseases such as sickle cell anemia may require a marrow transplant for survival, and having more individuals on the registry provides a greater chance for a match.

Five New Community Grant Recipients Announced
This quarter, the Community Outreach Committee has selected five local nonprofits to receive a total of $143,000 to provide safe haven for homeless individuals, expand the Girls on the Run program, visit limited-income new moms at home, and more. (7/11/2014.)

Self Regional Healthcare Funds Autism and Cancer Genetic Research
Greenwood Genetic Center and Clemson University begin new collaboration. Five of the first projects to be funded focus on the understanding and treatment of autism spectrum disorders, while two proposals were combined to study improved diagnostics for hereditary cancers. (6/13/2014.)

Skyelar at Camp PorcupineCamp Porcupine Creates Community For Kids With Diabetes
Camp porcupine is Self Regional Healthcare’s camp for children with Type I and Type II diabetes. It takes place June 16-20, 2014 at Greenwood Family YMCA. (6/13/2014.)

Gallup Names Self Regional A 'Great Workplace' for 7th Consecutive Year
Self Regional Healthcare, a not-for-profit healthcare system serving the 250,000 residents of the Lakelands region, is now a seven-time Gallup Great Workplace Award recipient. (6/04/2014.)

Gallup Great Workplace for Seventh Consecutive YearEpting Street Entrance to Close for Construction
Starting this week, visitors to Self Regional Medical Center may need to access services and visit patients at the Medical Center using an alternate entrance. Direct access to the Patient Tower from the Epting Street entrance will be closed due to construction. (6/03/2014.)

SCHA Recognizes Self Regional Healthcare for Patient Safety Excellence
The South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) recognized Self Regional Healthcare as a recipient of the SC "Certified Zero Harm Award" for excellent performance in patient safety. (4/22/2014.)
