Schools, churches and community centers are among the groups that have been chosen to receive an automatic external defibrillator (AED) from the Self Regional Healthcare Heart and Vascular Center’s grant program.
The Boards of Self Regional Healthcare (SRH) and Edgefield County Hospital (ECH) announced today that they have signed a non-binding letter of intent that will set the stage for a greatly increased role for Self Regional in delivering healthcare services to Edgefield County.
As volunteer leaders, they join __ existing trustees who give of their time, their talents and assist the Foundation institute philanthropic support to advance healthcare in the Lakelands region.
“Because we could not verify with certainty that the glasses we received were safe to use, we felt that, out of an abundance of caution, we should recall them, and advise that they not be used.”

This innovative program offers paid training for four weeks and guaranteed employment at Self Regional as a Patient Care Technician, upon completion.
The Mary Ella Ruff Nursing scholarship was established in honor of one of Self Regional Healthcare’s most dedicated and influential nurses, Mary Ella Ruff, who retired in 1978 after 35 years of service.
Cynthia has 23 years of Registered Nursing experience and is an avid leader at the Emergency Care Center and also at the Wound Healing Institute at Self Regional.
These quality measures are designed to help hospital teams follow the most up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing death and disability for stroke patients.
Without these programs, many residents would go without proper health and dental care, as well as additional programs that target specific health problems in our area.
